About the Role

Help lead an award-winning BBQ restaurant, support a passionate team, and help deliver Oxford's best smokehouse experience.

Contract: Full -time, Permanent

Guaranteed Hours : 35 hours per week.

Additional Hours: Additional hours up to approximately 45 hours per week. Depending on the needs of the business .

Working Pattern: Including evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required by the needs of the business.

Pay: £13.50 per hour + Service Charge

* Guaranteed Basic Pay: The applicable National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage rate for your age, plus a share of the restaurant's service charge. Service charge is paid in addition to your basic pay and will vary depending on the amount collected and the Company's service charge distribution arrangements.

Requirements

As Front of House Shift Leader, you will lead by example, creating an outstanding guest experience while living and promoting the Burnout BBQ Family Ethos. This is a hands-on supervisory role where you will work alongside your team throughout each shift, ensuring every guest receives the high standards of hospitality Burnout BBQ is known for. You will support the Front of House Manager by leading shifts, supervising the Front of House team, maintaining operational standards, supporting the training and development of team members and ensuring the restaurant operates safely, efficiently and in line with company policies. In the absence of the Front of House Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Front of House operation.


Key Responsibilities

Shift Leadership & Operations

● Lead, motivate and support the Front of House team in line with the Burnout BBQ Family Ethos.

● Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Front of House in the absence of the Front of House Manager.

● Ensure every shift is well organised, fully supported and operates efficiently.

● Allocate team responsibilities and manage staff breaks to maintain excellent service throughout trading.

● Support the Front of House Manager with the day-to-day operation of the restaurant.


Guest Experience & Service

● Deliver and maintain exceptional customer service standards.

● Ensure every guest enjoys a consistent Burnout BBQ experience.

● Monitor food and drink service throughout each shift, responding quickly to any issues or delays.

● Resolve customer feedback and complaints promptly, professionally and in line with company procedures.

● Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth communication and efficient service.


Team Leadership & Development

● Lead by example and create a positive, supportive working environment.

● Coach and support Front of House Team Members throughout each shift.

● Assist with the induction and on-the-job training of new team members.

● Encourage high standards of teamwork, communication and professionalism.

● Ensure all team members maintain excellent presentation standards and comply with company uniform policies.


Standards & Presentation

● Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness throughout the restaurant.

● Complete general cleaning duties throughout each shift.

● Replenish stock and maintain well-organised service stations.

● Ensure dining areas remain clean, welcoming and presented to Burnout BBQ standards.

● Wear the Burnout BBQ uniform correctly and maintain excellent presentation.

● Maintain a clean and organised workstation throughout every shift.

● Wear the Burnout BBQ uniform correctly and maintain excellent presentation.

● Help create a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the Burnout BBQ brand. Opening, Closing & Operational Standards

● Complete all Front of House opening and closing procedures accurately and on time.

● Carry out end-of-day cash handling and cashing-up procedures in line with company policy.

● Complete all daily operational checks and Health & Safety paperwork.

● Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation throughout the restaurant.

● Ensure company procedures and operational standards are consistently followed. Health, Safety & Communication

● Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies.

● Support food safety and hygiene standards across the Front of House operation.

● Report maintenance issues, equipment faults and stock shortages promptly to the Front of House Manager.

● Communicate effectively with the management and kitchen teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

● Help maintain a safe environment for guests, colleagues and visitors.


What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

● Has previous supervisory, Team Leader or management experience within a busy restaurant, hospitality or food-led venue.

● Leads by example and enjoys working on the restaurant floor.

● Is confident taking responsibility for running shifts and supporting the wider team.

● Has outstanding customer service and communication skills.

● Is organised, reliable and able to work well under pressure.

● Has strong leadership skills and enjoys developing and supporting others.

● Is passionate about hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.

● Has a good understanding of Health & Safety, food hygiene and licensing requirements within the hospitality industry
